Unable to Access Archive File
Well I downloaded Gw, installed, played, etc, Closed, tried to reopen and got a text box Saying Unable to Access Archive File
Guild Wars is unable to access it's archive file C:/Program Files/etcetcetc. Please verify that this file is accessible and writeable and no other program is using it.
I am running Vista with well above the recommended specs for this, I have tried deleting the .tmp file and restarting, copying a different .dat from another computer, doing a chkdsk, and doing -repair, always the same error, help!
Also firewall allows it, and is turned OFF

That's damn odd.
Checked the file permissions? There shouldn't be any set, but maybe something decided to naughtily take ownership?

Nope, no file permissions set for the exe, .dat, or the .tmp
EDIT: odd update... i deleted the .dat (2.3GB), reinstalled the .dat from website (160Mb), Games starts, i close, run .exe again, no problems
I replace the 160 MB with the 2.3 GB, get the error, this has happened before, both possess the same attributes, any idea on this...? I don't want to have to keep moving from area to area and waiting a half an hour for the initial downloads...

Corrupt .dat file? I have tried files from different computers that run it fine, another vista nontheless, and one from an xp, no luck, and can not run any - commands as i get text box immediately, and i have had to reinstall the .dat over 3 times, it just takes hours to play as i have to download 1.3~GB of info each time

If the 2.3 gb doesn't work use the 160MB that does work. When you're not using the computer (sleeping, at work or school) open command prompt and type change to c:\program files\guild wars\ and type gw -image This will download the full dat file (over 3gib) Or just use the 160mb and let it download parts as you play. You might want to run chkdsk also if its happened more than once since you might have bad sectors on your hdd.

I tried that, but anytime I finish playing or update the .dat, I start getting the error again, and check first post, chkdsk already done
